Anita Keefer Obituary

ANITA "SUE" (DEAN) KEEFER, 84, passed away on October 23, 2024 at her home in Sherrills Ford, NC, with her daughters by her side. She had been under hospice care for several months.
Sue was born in Charleston, WV on May 22, 1940 to the late Jay and Garnet Dean. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her one sibling, Jaynelle M. Maddox.
She was a graduate of Dupont High School in Belle, WV. While in high school she was a member of the marching band where she was also a solo clarinetist. After high school, Sue took classes in accounting and worked for various employers in West Virginia and in North Carolina.
Sue married in 1960 and was a wonderful mother to two daughters and many "fur babies". As a family, they enjoyed camping in the West Virginia mountains, boating on the surrounding lakes and vacationing at Myrtle Beach, SC. The beach was her favorite spot. She could always be found reading a book and watching the waves roll in.
In 2005, she retired from Finish Line Events in Concord, NC to the Lake Norman, NC area to enjoy "lake living."
She is survived by her two daughters, Deana R. Shoemaker of Smith Mountain Lake, VA and Kristina K. Keefer of Sherrills Ford, NC. Also their father, Bricel D. Keefer, Jr. of Smith Mountain Lake, VA.
Sue will be deeply missed.
The family will be holding a private ceremony at a later date.
