Barbara Cooper Obituary

The family of BARBARA ELLEN FERGUSON COOPER is saddened to announce her passing on July 31, 2025. She died surrounded by family at her home in Dallas, GA.
Barbara was born in Mingo Co., WV on Dec 26, 1934 to Madeline and Homer Ferguson. She is survived by her children; Paula Cooper Burton and Andria Cooper Cooke of Dallas, GA and Gregory Cooper and wife Teresa of Troutville VA; her sister, Lucille Gaines of Port St. Lucie FL. and brother Steven Ferguson and wife Tanya of York, PA.;8 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 3 great- great- grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her former husband, Cebert E. Cooper Jr. of Hickory NC; sister Joann Hawkins and husband Theodore of Seth, WV; brother, Sidwell Ferguson and wife Nancy of Bardstown Ky. and a grandchild; Jonathan Lucas of Dallas, GA.
"Babs" touched the lives of many friends and acquaintances where she lived and worked: Washington DC, Charleston WV, Hickory, NC and St. Augustine FL She was a bright light to all who knew and loved her.
There will be a graveside memorial service on Saturday, October 11 at 1 p.m. at the Cooper Cemetery in Coopertown, WV (near Whitesville on Rte. 3)
