Frank Squillaro Obituary

FRANK VINCENT SQUILLARO, JR., 88, of South Charleston, WV, passed away on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 26, 1936 in Newark, NJ to the late Frank Vincent and Florence Gloria Squillaro.
After serving two years in the United States Army, 101st Airborne Division, he began working for Union Carbide Corporation. While working, he attended night classes at Newark College of Engineering, earning his degree in Chemical Engineering. He retired from Union Carbide after 33 years and ventured into consulting work, forming his own company, Resource Valuization. He worked as a consultant for BP in Belgium where he lived for three years developing lifelong friendships. He returned to WV where he continued his consulting work and provided his expertise to many local and regional companies.
Over his lifetime, Frank enjoyed many diverse activities including scuba diving, fishing, boating, reading, woodworking, and was a long-time member of the Kanawha Rock and Gem Club where he explored his love for geology. He enjoyed nature hikes and always had a supply of food on hand for the birds visiting his backyard feeder. Frank was well known for his ability to converse intelligently on any topic from science to philosophy and never met a challenge he couldn't solve or DIY project he couldn't tackle.
Frank loved working and learning but that always came second to the love for his large family.
In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by his sisters Clementine and Maryanne.
Frank is survived by his sister Celeste Alfonso, his brother Richard Squillaro, and his five children Christina Bametzreider of Lebanon, PA, Frank Squillaro of Sterling, VA, Anna Maria Kimble of Morgantown, WV, Monica Cutlip of Morgantown, WV, and Melissa Borowitz of Davis, WV. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Paul Bametzreider, Jonathon Bametzreider, Alison Staffileno, Joey Kimble, Sean Kimble, Jasmine Cutlip and Vincent Cutlip, and his six great grandchildren, Parker, Eleanor, Bennett, Charlotte, Henry and Arthur as well as many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to all the staff at Sundale who cared for him and friends who reached out with their support.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Frank's memory to those charities closest to his heart, The Salvation Army (give.salvationarmyusa.org), his alma mater NJ Institute of Technology (give.njit.edu), and to the Kanawha Rock & Gem Club, PO Box 2043, Charleston, WV 25327.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Hastings Funeral Home.
