George A. Sizemore

GEORGE A. SIZEMORE, 73, of Red House, passed away suddenly on July 18, 2025. He was returning home from what would be his final adventure -- an annual fishing trip to Canada.
Born to the late William and Betty Sizemore, George deeply loved and valued his family. He is survived by his devoted wife of 37 years, Tina Sizemore.
Also surviving are his children, Carrie Dotson (Jason) and Brian Sizemore (Jamie); and his stepchildren, Wesley Paxton and Matt Paxton (Amy), whom he cared for deeply. The light of his life was his beloved group of nine grandchildren: Chase (Beverly), Tanner, Olivia (Christian), Aryssa, Haylee, Lochlan, Grayson, Dylan, Mia, and great-grandson, Theodore. The remaining five "Sizemore Boys" are: Bill (Pat), Chuck (Mary), Tim, Michael, and Tom.
A proud Army veteran, George served in Vietnam and was a longtime member of Masonic Lodge #36 in Buffalo. Throughout his vibrant life, George held many roles including construction worker, welder, realtor, and business owner each reflecting his strong work ethic and dynamic spirit.
George never met a stranger and was admired by many for his warm, approachable nature.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate his life on Thursday, July 24, at Gatens-Harding Funeral Home in Poca. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with a memorial service immediately following. Entombment will take place at Donel C. Kinnard Memorial State Veterans Cemetery in Dunbar.
