James Casto Obituary
JAMES "JIM" CASTO, 79, of Clendenin, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 14, 2023, after a short illness.
He was born on October 26, 1944, to the late Charles D. Casto and Ora F. Deel Casto. Jim was a graduate of the last class of Clendenin High School. Upon graduation, Jim joined the Air Force and served as a veteran of the Vietnam War. After returning home, he worked for Elk Refinery and then worked in Finance and Administration for the State of West Virginia. After gradually losing his sight, Jim enjoyed spending his time with his family and friends, listening to birds on his porch, NASCAR, sports, and the news.
Jim was a member of Reamer Hill Community Church. He was also a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion Post #0061.
Jim was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son, and brother, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, Jim is also preceded in death by his loving wife, Linda Lou Casto.
He is survived by his son, Thomas A. Casto and wife Sherri L. Asbury-Casto of Summerville, S.C.; grandchildren: Taylor A. Casto Morris and husband Spencer P. Morris, currently stationed in Santa Rita, Guam, USA, Tyler A. Casto and Skylar A. Casto, both of Summerville, S.C.; great-grandchildren Easton P. Morris, Emerie M. Morris, and Ellerie M. Morris, currently stationed in Santa Rita, Guam, USA; sisters: Faye Swiney of Cabin Creek, W.Va., and Gail Anderson and husband David Anderson of Goldtown, W.Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
Service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at the Hafer Funeral Home Chapel with the Pastor Lee Swor officiating. Burial will follow in Clendenin Memorial Park, Clendenin.
Friends may call prior to his service from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at the funeral home.
