Margaret Price Obituary

MARGARET MASTALERZ PRICE passed away on June 20, 2024, with her family at her side. She was a warrior, surviving breast cancer for 26 years. She was born in Wheeling, WV, on July 20, 1950, to Frank J. and Evelyn Mastalerz. Margaret and her devoted husband, Robert, shared a loving marriage for 34 years.
Margaret graduated from Charleston Catholic High School, class of 1968. She earned a bachelor's degree from the WVU School of Journalism. She earned a master's degree in journalism at Ohio State University. Margaret began her second career as a Registered Nurse in 1983, graduating from the WVU School of Nursing. She practiced nursing at Charleston Area Medical Center in various clinical and managerial roles for 40 years.
Margaret was a consummate fan of all things West Virginia University. She loved cats, reading, dancing, and traveling. She and Robert shared many fabulous cruises and European vacations during their marriage.
She had a deep sense of community, getting involved with causes that benefited charitable organizations, participating in walks and runs, volunteering with Robert for AARP, and being a volunteer in the Thomas Memorial Hospital Gift Shop. She was an avid foodie and loved Charleston's annual restaurant week.
Margaret and Robert have a keen interest in the environment and the future of the planet. They are establishing an endowed fund through the WVU Foundation to provide scholarships for students with academic promise in the College of Agriculture, Forestry, & Consumer Sciences: Robert Houston Price and Margaret Price Scholarship.
Margaret is survived by her husband, Robert; sister, Carol Mastalerz; brother, Frank Mastalerz (Vickie); sister, Mary Post (Jim); nephew, Kevin Mastalerz (Megan); nephew, Greg Mastalerz (Jennifer); niece, Erika Mastalerz, DVM; niece, Susan Price (Betsy Sturber); nephew, Greg Price (Wayne Osborne); two great nieces, Willa and Wren Mastalerz, and one great nephew, Timothy Mastalerz.
The family would like to thank the staff of CAMC Cancer Center and CAMC Memorial medical units for their compassionate care. Also special thanks to her dear friend, Betty Jo Monday, for her love, support, and friendship.
