Marion Prowse Obituary

of Marion Louise
Agsten Prowse
January 16, 1924 -
January 16, 2025

MARION LOUISE AGSTEN PROWSE, 101, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 16, 2025. She was born on January 16, 1924, to the late Herman B. Agsten, Jr and Hazel Mays Agsten.
Marion had a diverse and satisfying career, working in a variety of roles throughout her life. She was the owner of St. Albans Floral, and also held positions at Kanawha Bank, the West Virginia Department of Welfare, the IRS, the Bureau of Census, and as a real estate agent. Marion was in the first graduating class of Stonewall Jackson High School, in 1941. She also attended Ohio University.
In addition to her parents, Marion is preceded in death by her son, Bruce E. Huffman, and her husband, Howard D. Prowse.
Those left to cherish her memory include: her daughters, Teresa Huffman, Jade Doyle (Mike) and Rachael Fitzgerald (Bill); daughter-in-law, Kathleen Huffman; grandchildren, Andy Huffman (Stephanie), Bradley Huffman (Amanda Leffel), Erik Solce (Kristy Robertaccio), Kat Maney (Casey), Anna Wolfe (Chris), and Maria Huffman (Kayla Robertson); great-grandchildren Lena, Mia, and Wren Huffman; sister Patsy Frazier; brother Carl F. Agsten (Mary Beth); and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Marion will be fondly remembered for her warm smile and sense of humor. She had a love for jokes and couldn't wait to share them. She was a skilled bridge player and loved big band music and WV hot dogs. Marion treasured her family and friends, often offering her support as a "stand-in mother" to those who had lost theirs. A devout Baptist, she carried her faith with her throughout her life. In her 80s, Marion embraced Facebook and enjoyed being connected with loved ones near and far.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 25, 2025, at Spring Hill Cemetery, where family and friends will gather to celebrate her remarkable life, with Pastor Jesse Waggoner officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Kanawha-Charleston Humane Association.
