Opal Viola Hunley

OPAL VIOLA (HIGGINBOTHAM) HUNLEY, 97, of Charleston, formerly of Glasgow, WV deceased on January 10, 2024.
Opal was a homemaker and a loving wife and mother. She attended Glasgow United Methodist Church for many years until her move to the Kanawha City area of Charleston where she attended Central United Methodist Church and then Morris Memorial United Methodist Church upon Central's closing.
Opal was predeceased by her husband of 43 years, Joseph Ellis Hunley, Jr., Father George Alvin Higginbotham, Mother Allie Rand (Rutledge) Higginbotham, sisters Sadie Estep and husband Clifford of WV, Arlene Smith and husband Arthur of WV, Pauline Joachim and husband Charlie of TX, Helen Miller and husband Bill of TN, brothers William (Bill) Higginbotham and wife Edith of NC, Gary Higginbotham of CA. and 7 nieces and nephews.
She is survived by her daughter Yevonna (Bonnie) L. Hudnall of WV; Grandsons Joseph C. Hudnall and wife Melissa of IA, Patrick W. Hudnall and wife Courtney of OH, Great-Granddaughters Emma Ruth of IA, Kennedy Robin, Hamilton Jeanette and Lincoln Lyn of OH and Great-Grandson Henry Ellis of IA., sisters Carolyn Slater and husband Jim of IL, Charlotte Perry and husband Jim of WV., brother Harold Higginbotham of WV., sister-in-law Sue Higginbotham of CA. and 18 nieces and nephews..
Opal enjoyed laughing and "catching up" with family and friends. She had a good sense of humor and was a strong fighter, but in the end wasn't strong enough to fight all her medical problems. Rest in peace mom. She was loved by many and will be missed by many,
Family and friends can come and celebrate Opal's life at Cooke Funeral Home, 600 Old Fort St. Cedar Grove, WV 25039 on Monday January 15, 2024 from 12 p.m. until 1 p.m. with funeral service starting at 1 p.m. With Pastor Chris Hudnall officiating.
