Paul Sword Obituary

Mr. Paul Leslie Sword, age 80, of Concord, GA, passed away April 19, 2025. Paul was born in West Virginia, son of the late Charles Estil (C.E.) Sword, Sr. and Hazel Medley Sword. While in school, Paul played football and earned an All-State Scholarship to Concord College in Princeton, WV. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in Vietnam from 1966-1967 and was part of the Military Police.

After being honorably discharged from the military, Paul moved to Georgia and attended DeKalb Community College. He earned his real estate license and owned his own company, Brass Key Properties, in Jonesboro. He was accomplished in many areas of his life. He was a mortgage broker, a flight instructor and a commercial pilot for Hardees. In the 80's, Paul was featured in The Real Estate Investor's Magazine which focused on buying and selling commercial real estate.

Paul had been a member of Concord Baptist Church for the last 30 years, where he served as Deacon, youth leader and Sunday School teacher. Prior to that, he was a member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church in Griffin where he also served as Deacon and Men's Sunday School teacher.

He enjoyed traveling, flying, hunting, fishing and trips to the beach. Destin and Panama City were his favorites. Paul was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Diane Sword Perry.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years: Cynthia "Cookie" Sword; children: Ashley O'Donnell of Concord, GA and Anthony Sword (Meagan) of Senoia, GA; grandchildren: Alicia Kaylee O'Donnell, Alexis Leigh Sword, Brantley Parker Sword, and Brody Kain Sword; brothers and a sister: Charles E. "Chuck" Sword, Jr. (Norma) of Hollonville, GA, John Sword (Linda) of WV and Dreama Hammonds of Chesapeake, OH; uncle and aunt: Everett (Velma) and Shelva Jean; several nieces and nephews and lots of cousins.

Friends may visit the family on Thursday, April 24, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., at the funeral home.

A graveside service will follow at 11:30 a.m., in Old Hebron Cemetery in Concord, GA with Pastor Randall Harris officiating.

Moody-Daniel Funeral Home in Zebulon, GA is assisting the family with arrangements.
