Ruby Symes Obituary
RUBY LEE WESTFALL SYMES, 90 years of age of Summersville, passed away Tuesday, May 20, 2025 in the WV Hospice Care Center at Elkins. She was the daughter of the late Harvey and Georgia Morris Samples Taylor and was born at Bomont May 24,1934. Ruby was a member of the Senior Center and the Calvary Baptist Church in Summersville.
She was also preceded in death by two husbands, Donald Eugene Westfall and Owen Symes; son, Garry Westfall; granddaughters, Amy Westfall and Jennifer Dawn Butler; great grandson, Hunter Christian Butler and siblings; Charles and William Taylor, Lilly Wolfe, Margaret Castle, Edith Smith, Francis Amey, Irene Bowers, Patty Clendenin and Freda Kenney.
Surviving are her sons, Roger of Dayton, TN, Michael of Zephyrhills, FL, Danny of Bristol, TN, and Tony Westfall of Summersville; daughters Judy Butler Eppler of Huttonsville, Sandy Nolan of Hurricane; her twin sister, Rosa Bostic of Queen Shoals; 16 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren
Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m., Friday, May 23 in the West Virginia Memorial Gardens at Calvin with Pastor Arnold Nicholas officiating.
The Waters Funeral Chapel in Summersville is in charge of the arrangements.

Thank you for adding extra food in Sandy´s lunch to help feed me through most of jr high. Thank you for being so gracious all the times we kept you awake with our laughing during stay overs. Thank you for being such a great mother to one of my favorite people on the planet. Your life mattered and probably more than you´ll ever know.

My deepest sympathy to the survivor’s of Ruby Symes’s Family. You may remember that Ruby lived near McMillion Drive in Summersville, West Virginia. My father lived at 311 McMillion Drive. Within walking distance of the main highway below.
My mother died several years before he did. He cooked and did every thing for himself for several years. There came a time when he needed help. Fortunately there was Ruby and another woman, Geraldine, who both lived close by. Both were available to help my Dad. They both became like family to me. And I have kept in touch with both of them. The last time I called Ruby
, perhaps was last year. Time goes by too fast, the older we become.
