WAVA SPAULDING WILLIAMS 90, of Dry Branch went to be with her Lord peacefully at home on Thursday, September 4, 2025 after an extended illness.
Wava was predeceased by her parents, Henry and Cladis (Trail) Spaulding and her son-in-law, Charles McCallister. Left to carry on her legacy and cherish her memory are her husband of 69 years, William (aka Jack or Bill or Willie); her daughter, Terri of Virginia Beach, Virginia; her son, Barry and his wife, Pam of Dry Branch and her beloved granddaughter, Brittni Stanley and her husband, Jon and their children, Ruger, Ella, Riley, and Skyler, all of Dry Branch.
Wava was born on February 5, 1935 and lived her entire life in Dry Branch except for a brief time in Charleston after her marriage to Jack in 1956. After graduation from East Bank High School in 1953, she worked for Traveler's Insurance, WV Department of Transportation and retired from Kanawha County Schools as a school secretary, having worked at Wet Branch Elementary, Sharon Dawes Elementary, Glenwood Elementary, and Montrose Elementary schools. The time spent with elementary school children was very important to her and carried over into her work with children in her church, teaching Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, directing Children's Church and holding Good News Clubs. She was a member of Chelyan Baptist Church where she was also active in the women's ministry. For over 57 years, she was a member of Eastern Star having served as Worthy Matron of Chelyan Chapter No. 101 and as officer and grand representative of the West Virginia Grand Chapter.
Wava's greatest joy was her family. Having been an only child, she loved to host Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings with her extended family and friends and enjoyed traveling and taking the family with her as often as possible. Wava always joked that she had no special talents; but her gifts were service, hospitality, and generosity. She always made everyone she met feel welcome and appreciated truly living out the scripture to "act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God" Michah 6:8.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, September 10, 2025 at Fidler and Frame Funeral Home, Belle, with Pastor David Wolfe officiating. Interment will follow in Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens, Glasgow.
Visitation will be two hours prior to service time at the funeral home on Wednesday, where an Eastern Star Service will be held immediately prior to the funeral service.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Hospice Care, 1606 Kanawha Boulevard West, Charleston, West Virginia 25387 or (
