In addition to his immediate family, James is survived by two brothers, John Hale and his wife Peggy, and Sherman Hale, as well as his sister Margaret Hale Proco and her husband Darrell. He was a beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews, who will carry his memory in their hearts. Professionally, James worked over 20 years for the Town of Pearisburg retiring later as a Supervisor of Public Works for the Giles County PSA where he was respected for his commitment and work ethic. A passionate sports enthusiast, James had a particular love for football and eagerly anticipated each season watching the Giles Spartans. He found solace in nature, enjoying hunting and fishing, and he participated in water aerobics with Bonnie, which provided both therapy and a sense of independence during his illness. An avid collector, James delighted in discovering treasures at yard sales, estate sales, and flea markets. His culinary skills were unmatched, as he took pride in preparing meals that were always delicious. His legacy will live on through the countless memories provided.
