John Douglas Rutter

John Douglas Rutter, 55, of Raysal, formerly of Dry Branch, WV left his earthly home September 6, 2025. John was born August 31, 1970 a son of the late Douglas and Shirley Atwell Rutter. John was known as an outdoorsman; he was an avid hunter with his Rabbit Beagles. John enjoyed whittling and living a quiet life with his favorite dog, Lucy. During his last few years John was an avid Bible reader; he loved to read, write and study God's word as he grew closer to the Lord. John had a large Bible collection. Those closest to him knew him as Uncle John. He did not like to see anyone sad; he wanted to make you smile. In addition to his parents John was preceded in death by his grandparents, Frank and Gracie Atwell and Frank and Artie Rutter. Those left to cherish his memory include his loving sister, Anita (John) Rowe of Dry Branch, WV; nieces, Paula (Fred) Baldwin of Bradshaw, WV, Amanda (Allen) Lester of Panther, WV, and Karen (Timothy) Marshall of Raysal, WV; a nephew, Johnathon (Christine) Rowe of Compton Mountain, VA; a special cousin, Thomas and Tosha Mutter and their family; and a host of additional nephews and nieces. Friends may visit with the family at the Chapel of Fanning Funeral Home in Iaeger Friday, September 12, 2025 from 12 o'clock until the time of services at 1 o'clock. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, September 12, 2025 at 1 o'clock with Reverend John Rowe officiating at the Chapel of Fanning Funeral Home in Iaeger. In honoring the wishes of the deceased his body will be cremated following these services. Fanning Funeral Home in Iaeger is assisting the family.
