John Wagoner Obituary

John Roe "Johnny" Wagoner, Bartley, WV December 20, 1961 – 63 years old, Born in Welch, WV. He was the son of the late James "Jim" Roe Wagoner and the late Hazel Golden Wagoner of Bartley, West Virgina. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Shelby Allen Wagoner, David Wagoner, and Daniel "Buck" Wagoner. He is survived by his two sons, Shelby John "Snakey" Wagoner of Bartley, West Virginia, and Chad Wagoner and wife Chelsea of Yukon, West Virginia. His sister Elizabeth "Sissy" Puckett and husband Wesley of Atwell, WV. His brother Jack Golden Jr of Asheboro, NC, his granddaughters Sophie Wagoner of Yukon, WV, and Brandie and Amber Wagoner of Bluefield, WV. Three nieces, Brittany, Stacy, and Hannah Puckett. A special friend Debbie who he loved dearly. Friends who were like brothers, Jeff Blevins, Freddie Ray Golden, and Larry Golden. He is also survived by several other nieces, nephews, and cousins. He graduated from Big Creek High School. Johnny was an avid hunter, a member of the Caretta Hunting Club and was a founding member of the J and J Hunting Club. He was a retired disabled coal miner. He loved his dogs, especially his Norwegian Elkhounds. He loved spending time at his cabin in Bartley Hollow. A memorial service will be held at the Jesus Church of Bartley, with Rev. Roger Hale Jr. officiating on Sunday, October 12, 2025. Family and friends can visit from 2:00pm - 4:00pm at the church. Fanning Funeral Home in Iaeger is assisting the family.
