In Loving Memory of Lula Mae Dobbins, March 26, 1939 – March 17, 2026. With hearts full of both sorrow and blessed assurance, we celebrate the life of Lula Mae Dobbins, a faithful woman of God who entered into eternal rest on March 17, 2026.
Lula Mae departed this world in a sacred and peaceful way, surrounded by the presence of the Lord, hearing His Word during a special church service prepared just for her. What a powerful testimony: she went home to be with the Lord while listening to the Gospel, embraced by the very faith she lived out daily. She was a beautiful and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose life reflected kindness, strength, and unwavering devotion. Lula Mae was a faithful servant of God, and her life was a shining example of love in action. She took great pride in her family, creating a warm, loving home and providing a foundation of faith that will carry on for generations. For many years, she dedicated her time to charity work at the Buckeye Lake Youth Center, serving others with compassion and a giving heart. She was also a devoted wife who cherished her family deeply and found joy in caring for those she loved. The words of 2 Timothy 4:7 echo her life beautifully: "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith."
She was preceded in death by her father, Oscar Head; mother, Malinda Head; her beloved husband, Lawrence Dobbins Sr.; her son, Lawrence "Skip" Dobbins Jr. (Roxanne Dobbins); grandson Andrew Dobbins; her sisters June Lewis (Bob Lewis), Joyce Adkins (Roscoe Adkins), Bonnie Dalton (Reeves Dalton), Catherine Johnson (Bill Johnson), and Linda Collis (Josh Collis); her brothers Kenneth Head (Sue Head) and Robert Head (Helen Head); brothers-in-law Bill Crouse and Wayne Moran, and many other special loved ones and dear friends.
She is lovingly survived by her sisters Lorraine Crouse and Ruby Moran daughters Regina Mullins (Morgan Mullins), Sissie Sheppard (Vic Sheppard), and Debbie Alcorn (Ron Alcorn); grandsons CorbyLee Mullins (Elie Mullins), James Dobbins, and Ryan Alcorn; granddaughters Lindsey Dobbins, Brandy Gettles (Eric Gettles), and Victoria Slayman; her cherished great-grandchildren Meadow Gettles, Aliana Gettles, Hunter Gettles, Zane Mullins, Madelyn Brewer, Conner Brewer along with special great-grandchildren Hunter Vest, Makynzie Vest, Haven McReynolds, Abby Chinsolo, Holly Chinsolo, and Brady Chinsolo and a special niece Lovesa Moran
She also leaves behind special friends Dave and Debbie Vitchner, Will Fooce, along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family who will forever hold her memory close. We take comfort in God's promise in Matthew 25:23: "Well done, good and faithful servant… enter into the joy of your Lord." And in 2 Corinthians 5:8, we are reminded that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.
The viewing for Lula Mae Dobbins will be held on March 25, 2026, from 6:00–9:00 p.m. The funeral service will take place on March 26, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at the Canebrake Freewill Baptist Church at 3665 Rift Berwind Road,
Berwind, WV 24815, with Rev. Darrell Long officiating. Our Special Pastor friend, Valerie Profit, will give a special message and sing at the service. Interment will follow at Grandview Cemetery in Bluefield, Virginia. Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.
As a special request, we would like everyone to wear purple, her favorite color. Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy of faith, love, and devotion will live on. We hold tightly to the promise of Revelation 21:4 that one day, God will wipe away every tear, and there will be no more death, sorrow, or pain.
