Benjamin Blumenthal Obituary

HANOVER Benjamin Blumenthal, 93, died Saturday night January 31, 2009, at Hanover Hospital following a brief illness. He was the husband of the Edna (Serbin) Blumenthal with whom he celebrated 61st wedding anniversary this past August 17, 2008. Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon, Tuesday at Geiple Funeral Home, Inc. 53 Main Street, Glen Rock with Rabbi Eric Cytryn, officiating. There will be no viewing. Burial will be in South Hill Hebrew Cemetery, York. Shiva service will be held Tuesday and Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Lancaster, and Thursday at 7 p.m. in Camp Hill. Mr. Blumenthal was born on March 12, 1915 in Hanover, a son of the late Isaac and Rebecca (Berman) Blumenthal. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, serving in the European Theater of Operations. Mr. Blumenthal was a business partner and operator of the Hanover Clothing Company for over 50 years. He was a lifelong member of Hanover Hebrew Congregation, and Hanover American Legion Post # 14. Besides his wife he also leaves two daughters, Elaine Strokoff and her husband Elliot, of Camp Hill and Joan Goldman and her husband Gary, of Lititz and six grandchildren. Please omit flowers. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Hanover Hebrew Congregation, C/O 222 McKinley Dr., Hanover, PA 17331; and American Friends of Magen David Adom-ARMDI 888 Seventh Avenue, Suite 403 New York, NY 10106.
