Charles Engel Obituary

Charles Eugene Engel, 76, of Seymour, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
Mr. Engel was born on Dec. 23, 1937, in Jennings County, the son of Lawrence (Jack) and Mary Louanna (Mousa) Engel.
He married Mildred Lucille Johnson on March 28, 1957, who survives.
Charlie graduated from Paris Crossing High School in 1955. He was a member of First Marion Baptist Church which was a top priority for Charlie. He was baptized in 1954. He served in many capacities at the church such as treasurer, assistant treasurer, teacher and deacon for many years. He raised his children to love the Lord and the entire family continues to attend and serve the church.
He is survived by his wife; children; P.J. Engel, Robin (Randy) Boicourt, Jan Engel and Rick (LouAnn) Engel; grandchildren; Nathan (Brenda) Boicourt, Mason (LeaAnn) Boicourt, Jacob and Bailey Engel, and David and A.J. Engel; brothers; Robert (Irene) Engle, Jack Engle, Don (Nancy) Engle, David (Bertha) Engle; sisters; Joan Shull, Wanda Kiste, and Carolyn (John) Brown; and many loving nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. Charlie was a loving father, husband, grandfather, friend and role model to many. He will be missed by many who knew him as Charlie, Eugene, Moti and friend.
Charlie was a self-employed farmer while working full time at Cummins Engine where he retired. After retirement, he fulfilled a dream of driving a "big" truck at Planck Trucking. He loved tractors, fishing with family and friends and spending time with family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law; Fieldon and Mary Johnson; sister-in-law, Wanda Engle; brothers-in-laws, Elmer Ross, Jim Shull and Hubert Kiste.
A special thank you to Dr. Fye, Dr. Lee, Schneck Medical nursing staff and Endo Department for the support and care given to Charlie over the last several years. He thought of you as friends and your kindness to him made a difference. Also, thank you to Mark and Connie Adams, Voss Funeral Home for your friendship, guidance and support.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. at Voss Funeral Home, Seymour on Saturday. Funeral services for Charles will be conducted by Pastor Jeff Hood at First Marion Baptist Church in Commiskey on Sunday at 3 p.m, with visitation at 2 p.m.
