Donald Eugene Morgan, 70, passed away Wednesday June 8, 2016, from injuries suffered in an automobile accident. He was the husband of JoAnn M. (Stouffer) Morgan for 50 years.
Born November 1, 1945 in Carlisle, he was the son of the late Samuel E. and Crystal (Mixell) Morgan. Don attended York Suburban High School and served in the U.S. Navy from 1964 to 1968 aboard the USS Boston. After serving his country, Don worked with the Sheet Metal Workers Local #19 as a sheet metal mechanic, welder & TAB technician and retired in 2001 after 30 years of service. Following retirement from the union, Don worked as the maintenance supervisor at Capital Self Storage for approximately six years.
In addition to his wife, Don is survived by his son, Bret E. Morgan and wife, Stacy (Shealer) of York; and his daughter, Kimberly J. (Morgan) Adams and husband, Richard of Texas City, Texas; two sisters, Earlene (Morgan) Smyser and Elfleda (Morgan) Harlacher, both of York; and four grandsons, Jonathan Adams, Daniel Adams, Wright Morgan and Benjamin Morgan.
Don attended New Creation Community Church, Dover, and was a life member of both the American Legion, Post #791 of Shiloh and the West York VFW, Post #8951. He was a 32nd degree Mason, Zeredatha Masonic Lodge, #451 of York and Tall Cedars of Lebanon, York Forest #30 and belonged to numerous social clubs within the York area.
Between his annual Indianapolis 500 trip and "snow birding" in Lady Lake, Fla., Don enjoyed riding with his motorcycle buddies, watching NASCAR, playing cards, hunting and was a spectator at most of his grandson's sporting events.
The memorial service is Monday, June 13 at 7:30 p.m. at New Creation Community Church, 3005 Emig Mill Road in Dover, with his pastor, Jennifer Deutsch Thomas, officiating. There will be no viewing; however, the family will receive friends from 6:45 to 7:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations sent to the York County SPCA.
