Edmund A. Dick

York - Edmund A. Dick, 74, entered into rest on Sunday, April 29, 2018 at Hospice and Community Care in Mount Joy. For 53 years, he was the husband of Josephine "Josie" (Smith) Dick.

Ed was born in West York on May 16, 1943, son of the late Arthur C. and Eleanor M. (Shive) Dick.

He graduated from William Penn High School, Class of 1961. He served in Thailand in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Ed was a tool designer and supervisor at Caterpillar, Inc. and retired after 31 years. He was an active member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, serving on the church council and as an usher and a life member of the Hawk Gunning Club. Ed was also the Chairman for 10 years of the York Township Water and Sewer Authority.

In addition to his wife, Josie, he is survived by a daughter, Kathleen D. Ilyes and her husband, Mark of York; a son, Stephen E. Dick and his wife, Heather of York; six grandchildren, Emily, Josiah, Daniel and Faith Ilyes and Paul and Mary Kate Dick.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 839 W. Market St., York, with the Rev. Kevin T. Shively officiating. A visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
