Hazel Boblitz Obituary

Hazel M. (Hodge) Boblitz, 73, formerly of New Freedom, died Monday, December 6, 2004, at her residence. She was the wife of the late James N. Sheetz and the late Elzey C. Boblitz, Sr. The service will be 11 a.m. Friday at J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary, Inc., 24 Second St., New Freedom with the Rev. Peggy Click officiating. Viewing will be 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary. Interment will be in New Freedom Cemetery. Born June 13, 1931, in Fawn Township, a daughter of the late George R. and Flora H. (Kreager) Hodge, she retired as a waitress from Bowmans Restaurant in Baltimore, Md. after 10 years of service and had previously worked for the former Charles G. Summers, Jr., Inc. in New Freedom. She is survived by two daughters, Roxanne Lins of Pasadena, Md. and Brenda L. Rites of Glen Burnie, Md.; four sons, Allen K. Simmons of Baltimore, Md., Donald G. and George O. Simmons, Sr. of Brooklyn Park, Md., and David R. Simmons of Glen Burnie, Md.; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Pauline Vannoy of Felton and Porgie Hamptman of Cockeysville, Md.; and four brothers, Roy L. Hodge of Glen Rock, James D. Hodge of Fawn Grove, John F. Hodge of Elkton, Md., and Clifton Hodge of Stephens City, Va. She was predeceased by five sisters and two brothers. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, P.O. Box 4261, Pittsfield, MA 01202.

Hazel was a wonderful and strong woman. I could talk to her like she was a friend. She listened to me when I had a problem and gave me wonderful advice.I will always miss her and remember her. I am glad that she no longer has to suffer.
