James L. Batson

York, PA - James L. Batson, 96, died on Friday, October 11, 2019 at Country Meadows-Leaders Heights.

He was the husband of the late Rae Catherine (Cramer) Batson.

James was born in Faison, NC on April 5, 1923, son of the late George W. and Mariah Susan (Hall) Batson.

James served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and the Korean War. He was an elementary school and social studies teacher for the Dover Area School District. James received his Bachelor's Degree from Millersville University and his Master's Degree from Shippensburg University. He was a member of St. Stephen's United Church of Christ, York Forest # 30 Tall Cedars of Lebanon and EAA-Baltimore Chapter. He was a former member of White Rose Lodge # 706 F. and A.M. and Harrisburg Consistory. James and his wife also enjoyed being members of the White Rose Square Dancers.

He is survived by his son, Kenneth Batson and his companion, Glenda Vaden; daughter, Linda Dallmeyer and her husband, Randy; three granddaughters, Kimberly Thompson and her husband, David, Tracey Lattuca and her husband, Jim, and Megan Hubbard and her husband, Justin; eight great grandchildren, Dominic Bronico and his wife, Cindy, Olivia and Sophia Bronico, Mary, Sara, and Kathleen Lattuca, Justin Lee and Saiya Hubbard. He was preceded in death by four siblings, Ray Jeanette Batson, Willie Batson, Annie Walton, and B.W. Batson.

Following cremation, a memorial service will be held at Country Meadows at Leader Heights, 2760 Pine Grove Road, York, PA 17403 on Saturday, October 26, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. Dr. Leon C. Via, III, officiating.
