Jay G. Barnhart, 80, entered into rest on Friday July 14, 2017 at his residence. He was the husband of Barbara A. (Bosche) Barnhart for 60 years.
He was born October 9, 1936 in York, the son of the late Wilbert E. and Pauline (Moyer) Barnhart.
Jay was a graduate of Eastern School District. Served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He worked as a truck driver and dispatcher for New Penn and later Branch Motors Express
He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, Victory AA, Shiloh American Legion, and 12 th Ward Democratic Club.
Jay is survived by his wife, Barbara, two sons, Scott W. Barnhart and wife, Kim of Manchester, Gary J. Barnhart and wife, Natalie of York; five grandchildren, Gary L. Barnhart, Stacia Barnhart, Ryan Barnhart, Tiffany Barnhart and Cody Barnhart; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Raoul Barnhart and wife, Esther of Dallastown; a sister, Phyllis Bixler of York.
A graveside service will be 12 noon Wednesday July 19, 2017 at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens, 250 Chestnut Hill Rd., York, with the Rev. Darcy Reis officiating. Those attending should meet at the gate of the cemetery by 11:45 a.m. The John W. Keffer Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2114 W. Market St., is assisting with the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to WellSpan Pulmonary Rehab 2350 Freedom Way Suite 207, York, PA 17402 or to St. James Lutheran Church 25 N. Adams St. York, PA 17404.

Jay,
you're going to be missed, you're missed already. I will remember all the laughs that we had together and how we would tell each other to take care of ourselves.
you were a good father in law and you always had a kind word to say to me.
you're home resting an not dealing with anymore pain.
