Larry Byers Obituary

DOVER Larry D. Byers, 59, went home to be with the Lord on June 11, 2009, at Memorial Hospital, surrounded by his loving wife and family. Larry was the loving husband of Charlotte (Smith) Byers. They were married for 35 years. He was born August 10, 1949, in Gettysburg, a son of the late Milford "Buff" and Clara (Wynegar) Byers. Larry served his country proudly in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was the owner of Byers Tire Sales in Dover . Larry was a member of Rohlers Lutheran Church, Dover, and Shiloh American Legion Post 791. He enjoyed playing computer games, cards, and dominos. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family. In addition to his wife, Larry is survived by two sons, Brian Byers of Dover, and Ronald Myers and his wife, Flossie of Fort Loudon; a daughter, Debra Smith and her husband, Gary of Dover; two grandsons, Derek Gloster and Corbin Byers; three granddaughters, Summer Smith, Haley Byers, and Ava Plowman; a great-granddaughter, Harlow Gloster; a brother, Ronald Byers and his wife, Joyce of Dover; two sisters, Vickie Lightner and her husband, Gary, and Cindy Strasser and her husband, James, all of Dover; 14 nieces and nephews; and 22 great-nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral at 11 a.m. Monday, June 15, 2009, and the viewings from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at Emig Funeral Home, 47 N. Queen St., Dover. Burial will follow in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens where veteran's honors will be presented by York County Veterans Honor Guard. Officiating will be the Rev. John M. Woods, pastor of Calvary Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Larry's memory to the American Lung Association, 1560 W. Market St., York, PA 17404; or the Crohn's Foundation of America, 386 Park Ave. South, 17th Floor, New York, NY 10016. Larry will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Larry will be missed by alot of friends
and family. Know he is in a better place and at peace. i will always remember going to get my tires from him
i'd pull my car in and he would say 4 new ones right. we always had alot of fun.i want to remember that smile and laugh of his.god bless you all. know
