Marie G. Baker

MCSHERRYSTOWN Marie G. Baker, 99, passed away peacefully Sunday, September 2, 2012, at the home of her daughter. She was the wife of David S. Baker, who died November 24, 1997. Born February 5, 1913, in Adams County, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Elizabeth (Hufnagle) Groft. Marie was a member of Annunciation Catholic Church in McSherrystown and a member of AARP. Surviving are three children, Ronald D. Baker of York, Darlene Barnhart and husband, Dave of McSherrystown, and Mary Ann Roth and husband, Alan of York; six grandchildren, Douglas and Daniel Barnhart, Denice Staub, Diana Heller, and Emily and Elizabeth Roth; six great-grandsons; and a sister; Sister Agatha Marie Groft, ASC of Columbia. She was preceded in death by seven siblings. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Friday at Annunciation Church in McSherrystown, with Rev. Lawrence W. Sherdel officiating. Burial will follow in Annunciation Cemetery in McSherrystown. Relatives and friends will be received Thursday 6 to 8 p.m. at Murphy Funeral Home, 501 Ridge Ave. McSherrystown.
