Philmore Fields Obituary

Philmore Fields, 69, of Seymour passed away at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, May 22, 2010, at Kindred Hospital, Greenwood.
Mr. Fields was born Jan. 23, 1941, in Edmonton, Ky., the son of Leonard Thomas and Dora Becky Fields, both of whom preceded him in death. He married Carolyn Fields on Sept. 4, 1962. She survives. They celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary last September.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1963 to 1965. He worked for Cummins Engine Company for 35 years and was a member of the Diesel Workers Union. He enjoyed dirt track racing and raced earlier in his life. He enjoyed NASCAR. When he was young, he enjoyed playing guitar and singing with his family. He loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Other survivors include four daughters, Phyllis (Donny Ballard) Fields of Columbus, Janet (Marvin Townsend) Fields of Seymour, Jennifer (Raymond) Anderson of North Vernon, and Sandra (Tony) Dover of Columbus; grandchildren Jeremy (Robin) Ogle, Robert (Nicole) White, Phillip Fields, Casey (John Wagner) White, James (Patricia Fields) Ogle, Marie Whitis and Tony Dover II; seven great-grandchildren; four great-stepgrandchildren; and a brother, Louis Edward (Oni) Fields of Horse Cave, Ky.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, one sister and a great-grandchild, Cayden Fields-Ogle.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home, with Pastor Mark Myers officiating. Friends and family may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from noon until time of service at the funeral home.
Burial will take place at Garland Brook Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to the donor's choice of charity.

One of my favorite memories with him was always at the race track! I enjoyed being there and always seein you guys.. It's been awhile since I've seen you all but I will always remember him the way I last seen him! Sorry I couldn't make it to the funeral but nana an papa James will be there! I love you guys.
