Ann Sheffer Obituary
York New Salem - Sara Ann (Smith) Sheffer, better known as "Ann" or "Annie" passed away on June 30th, 2018 at the age of 83 at home surrounded by the love of family and her dedicated caregivers. She was the loving wife of the late Clair "Sam" Elwood Sheffer, who passed away in 2015. Together they shared over 60 years of marriage.
Born in York she was the daughter of the late Clinton and Margaret (Mummert) Smith. She graduated from West York High School class of 1952 and also attended Penn State University.
In 1956 she along with her husband Sam; founded Sheffer Beer Dist. Co., Inc. Together Sam and Ann worked countless days and nights to build a business that one day would employ three generations of their family along with countless invaluable employees. Working against the cultural norms of the era Ann also set out to go into business on her own. Ann owned and operated the legendary dance pavilion, White Oak Park in the 1960's and later owned and operated her own beer wholesaler, Yorktown Beverage.
Most importantly, Ann was a devoted mother to her children, daughter Susan Ann Renoll and husband Dana, and son Clint Sheffer and wife Kathleen. Ann is also survived by her seven grandchildren who will forever cherish the time they were able to share with her; A. Brooks Renoll and his wife Erin, Chase Renoll, Kristina Sprenkle, Hannah and Caitlyn Sheffer, Shawna Long and Alana Arment as well as six great grandchildren.
Ann's family would like to express our sincerest gratitude to the caregivers who were by her side over the past three years. In the short time we had together you became a part of our family and were there when we and she needed you the most.
Funeral services are being held privately by the family. She will be laid to rest next to her husband at St. Jacobs Union Cemetery in York New Salem. Family services are under the direction of Beck Funeral Home & Cremation Service Inc., of Spring Grove.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Ann's memory may be made to St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 839 W. Market St., York PA 17401

Your mother was a wonderful, dynamic woman. What a wonderful example she set for your family! ..hard working hands, with love in her heart for her family and friends.
Can you imagine the reunion they are having in heaven?!!.. The "gang" is Together again
I'll always remember our parents being dressed perfectly.. And going to see all the shows at the Host Farm , and other places. The men were so handsome , and the women looked so beautiful.. They looked like movie stars!
May we all be blessed with the kind of close friendship they shared.

And was a wonderful woman. The family was blessed to have her as a wife, mother, and a grandmother. She was also a wonderful employer too many employees. We have many wonderful memories of Sam and Ann. We will miss them and their generosity. To Sue and Clint and their families we extend our deepest sympathies. Eternal memories.
