Joan L. (Himes) Dietz, 81, died Monday, August 21, 2017 at Juniper Village, Mount Joy. She was the wife of the late James D. Dietz, Sr.
Born June 28, 1936 in Yorkana, she was the daughter of the late William and Emma (Kohler) Himes.
Joan had worked for Tighe Industries and Roanna Girl Sewing Factory.
She was a 1954 graduate of Hellam High School. She was a member of Seven Mountains Blue Grass Association. Joan was known for her baking and cooking.
She is survived by two sons, Jason D. Dietz and his wife, Sherie of Yorkana and James D. Dietz, Jr. and his wife, Amy of Hellam; 2 grandchildren, Andrew Dietz and his wife, April and Rebecca Malone and her husband, Brian; and 5 great-grandchildren, Ella, Thomas, and Lila Dietz and Owen and Aiden Malone. Joan was the loving sister to 15 brothers and sisters. She is survived by 5 brothers and a sister, Glenn, Harold, Alvin, Ruth, Preston and Stanley. She was preceded in death by 6 brothers and 3 sisters, Richard, Beatrice, Theodore, Joe, Edward, Evelyn, William, Robert, and Margaret.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 26, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the Etzweiler Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, 1111 E. Market Street, York with the Rev. Allen Schwarz officiating. Burial will be in Machpelah Cemetery. A visitation will be held Saturday from 9-11 a.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association Greater PA, 2595 Interstate Drive, Suite 100, Harrisburg, PA 17110.

We are so sorry to hear of your Mother's passing, she suffered far more than she deserved to suffer. She was always a kind & loving person. Mom & Dad are together once again. Just wanted to send our condolences to the loss of your Mother, Joan She was sweet and always pleasant . Never a harsh word to anyone. She will be missed! We are so sorry we won't be attending the funeral services. We are out of the country for the next couple of days. Please know your families are in out thoughts and prayers. Joan was one of a kind.
