Judith Bosley Obituary

Judith Arlene Bosley

Austin, Texas - Judith Arlene (Hash) Bosley, loving and beloved mother and grandmother, passed away on Monday, January 4th, 2021, at the age of 78. She will be remembered for her infectious smile, quick wit, gentle heart, and optimistic spirit. Judy was born on December 22, 1942, in East Berlin, PA. After graduating from Spring Grove High School in 1960, she went on to receive a B.S. in Education from Elizabethtown College just three years later. She earned her M.S. in Early Childhood Education from Newark State University, specializing in special education. Judy enjoyed a celebrated 20-year career that started with working at Glenville Elementary in Southern York Township, where she loved her students as much as they loved her. Judy sought to nurture her students in life and learning, and she led with love as she taught her second graders, and later students with severe learning disabilities.

Staying true to her commitment to put family first, Judy took a career break to raise her son, David, and daughter, Tricia, before returning to her school "family." She was someone who believed and lived by the concept that love grows by giving, sharing and spreading it.

Throughout her life, Judy remained steadfastly dedicated to what mattered most to her heart: her family, teaching, the church, and serving others.

After her grandchildren, Zoe and Zane, were born, Judy quickly became a devoted grandmother. She instilled compassion and curiosity in her grandkids and rarely passed up an opportunity to sneak them a treat.

To know Judy was to love her. Her generosity, casual humor and genuine interest in others turned strangers into friends and friends into family. Her authenticity and kindness instantly put people at ease. Her optimism never waned - she was everyone's biggest cheerleader, including her own. No matter what, she always had more to give.

Judy dedicated her life to serving others, particularly those who needed it most. She was a true altruist, eager to take on the work she believed in and face it with sincerity and humility. Judy strove to instill empathy, tolerance, gratitude, and faith in her loved ones, and those values will continue to guide and inspire them.

Judy was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Jane, her father Charles Wayne, and her sister, Donna Lydia. She is survived by her brother, Dr. Charles W. Hash, Jr.; her son, David W. Sherrer II; and daughter, Tricia A. Sherrer; as well as two grandchildren, Zoe Alice Pauline Sherrer and Zane Charles David Sherrer; her nephew Ryan Hash; and grand-dog Winston.

A viewing will be held from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 18, 2021, at the Madison Avenue Church of the Brethren, 654 Madison Ave., York. Services will follow immediately. The burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Judy's name be made to either St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Humane Society.

What can I say about sweet Judy such a kind loving lady. We spent a week together at my house and had such a great time, coffee on my deck will never be the same. I love you and you will forever be in my heart, and if you look down from heaven and see me talking to myself in my deck know it's you in thinking of.

My wonderful friend, Judy....there were so many things left undone such as; a trip to Puerto Rico, you visiting me in Florida and many more lunches. For the times we did spend, I am so glad and will treasure forever. To the family, I know there'll be an emptiness because you can't touch her but at the same time her spirit n memories will comfort you.

I remember Judy well when she was a substitute teacher at Northeastern High School. She was always a bright spot in your day. A really nice person. My sympathy to all.
