SANDRA WALTON Obituary

SANDRA WALTON Sandra Casper Walton was born October 29, 1937, in Murray, Utah to Arthur L. and Bernice Grant Casper. She passed away December 22, 2023, in Stephenville, Texas. Sandra graduated from Jordan High School in 1955. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Utah and Master of Arts in Teaching from Tarleton State University. Sandra was a member of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She was a teacher, chorister, dance and drama teacher, and Sunday School chorister. Sandra also attended Rocky Point Church in Stephenville. Sandra married Harold H. Walton, June 19, 1972, near a waterfall in Big Cottonwood Canyon, Salt Lake City. Shortly after they married, Sandra and Hal moved to Stephenville, Texas where they lived for the remainder of their lives. Sandra taught English at Gordon High School for five years and Stephenville High School for 25 years where she was the department chair and a member of Stephenville High School Academic Hall of Fame. Sandra dedicated her life to teaching and loved every one of her students. She loved to sing and dance while teaching and many of her students still remember her songs. Sandra often passed out Snickers bars, Lemon heads and Fireballs to students, neighbors and friends and had "$20's day" for her grandkids and their friends where she passed out 20 dollar bills. Sandra is survived by sons Jeff Colegrove and wife Marsha of Salt Lake City, Utah, Craig Colegrove and wife Lori of Stephenville, Texas; step-sons, Jeff Walton and wife Robyn Galbos of Portland, Oregon, Robb Walton and his wife Dana of Salt Lake City, Utah, and James Walton and wife Zandra of Oregon City, Oregon; grandchildren, Shea Taylor and husband Jake, Casi Dunn and husband Tyler, Kensie Kirkland and husband Levi, Avery Sandra Colegrove, Nate Mellor and wife Amanda, Chris Mellor and wife Rochelle, Cameron Mellor and partner Crystal Fox; great-grandchildren, Weston Taylor, Izzy Taylor, Layla Dunn, Aubri Dunn, Reid Dunn, Kersey Kirkland, Kline Kirkland, Hailey Mellor, Mason Mellor, Luca Mellor, Brauc Mellor, and Boston Mellor; siblings, Arthur Casper and wife Luana, Judene West, Scott Casper and wife Stephanie, Paula Kimball, and many nieces, nephews and friends. Sandra was preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Bernice Casper, husband, Harold H. Walton, brother, Cory Casper, brother-in-law, Jay West and brother-in-law, Russell Kimball. Visitation will be Thursday, January 4, 2023, from 6:00-8:00 at Stephenville Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 5, 2023, at 2:00 at Stephenville Funeral Home with Mike Scott officiating. Burial will follow at Indian Creek Cemetery near Selden, Texas. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Stephenville Education Foundation or the Alzheimer's Association.
