Charles Renken Obituary

A Celebration of life for Bob Renken will be held at 11:00 am Friday, March 16th, 2012 at Christ Lutheran Church in Yuma, Arizona.
"Bob" went home to be with Jesus on Tuesday, March 6. He was born on August 10, 1929 in Flagler, CO (to Rufus and Hazel Renken). His family moved to Mitchell, NE where he graduated from high school in 1948.
He married Ida Belle Sallstrom on February 23, 1951 in Scottsbluff. They were blessed with 4 children: Mike (Nada); David; Doug (Willa); Shelly (Larry). He and Ida Belle were also blessed with 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Bob enjoyed working in the glass business in NE, OK and CO. After retirement, Bob and Ida traveled the country in their RV. They also enjoyed 30 years in Crystal Lakes with many friends.
Yuma became their winter home in 2000, where they built friendships through their church and park where their home is located. Bob enjoyed Yuma's warm weather, orchards, vegetable fields and delivering oranges and freshly squeezed juice to his kids and grandkids every year.
Bob is survived by his wife, 4 children, 4 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, a sister, brother and many nephews and "favorite" nieces. Those desiring may make memorial contributions in Bob's name to Hospice Compassus or Christ Lutheran Church in Yuma.

I was lucky enough to have met Bob and spent a little time with him when he visited Shelly and Larry.

I just recently found that Bob lived 5 miles from me in Yuma, AZ. Unnfortunately we were not able to link up and share old times. I worked with Bob in 1955 at Cook Paint & Glass in Scottsbluff, NE. I will always remember him with great respect.
