Joanne Lee Carlson Obituary

Joanne "Jo" Lee Carlson passed away on September 16, 2012. She was born on October 30, 1930. Married to her loving husband, Carl (Elof) Carlson for 34 years.

In loving memory of our Mom. It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our Mom, Jo. She passed away peacefully on a sunny Sunday morning in Santa Rosa, CA. Her children spent her last few weeks by her side. Stories were recalled and memories were shared. Joanne is survived by her husband Carl Carlson; her brother Jack Baker; her children Richard Whitaker, Randall Whitaker, Pamela Perry and Ronald Jimenez. She was a very special Wife, Sister, Mom and Aunt.

Friends recalled Mom's "robust laugh and positive attitude", her quick wit and willingness to always try something new.

Jo was an avid reader with a lust for life. Her extensive travels led her all over the world. Remembered as a fabulous cook she often entertained. Jo was born and raised in Sacramento, CA and graduated from McClatchy High School in 1947. Joanne was active as well as her husband, Carl in the Yuma Elks Club, Lodge # 476, as a Lady of the Elks. Jo and Carl were president's of the Sports Coach Motor Association. They were also active members of the Yuma Cactus Campers.

Her passion later in life became being a volunteer for the Yuma Assistance League, Operation School Bell. Donating her time to help clothe underprivileged children. She was an active member 2003 thru 2012.

She made wonderful friends there that supported and loved her dearly. In honor of our Mom's passing we ask that all donations be sent to: Assistance League of Yuma For: Operation School Bell, P.O. Box 4057, Yuma, AZ 85366-4057 928-539-9522. The family will have a private memorial in Sacramento, CA.
