John Lund Obituary

John M. Lund of Yuma, Arizona, peacefully went home to the loving arms of his Savior, Jesus, on Wednesday, July 28, 2010. He was 77 years old. At the time of his departure, he resided at The Bee Hive Home.
John was born in Livingston, Montana on May 17, 1933 to his parents Guadalupe Margaret Chase and Milton Alfred Lund. He was the oldest of 6 siblings.
In the U.S. Air Force, John served his country from 1950 - 1954. He was stationed at Davis Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson, Arizona where he met and married Clara Eloise, his beautiful wife of 58 years. He was then stationed for 18 months in Germany. After the service, in 1956, he joined the Mountain Bell Phone Co. and worked there for 38 years. He was respected not only by his peers but also by the men who worked under him. John retired in March of 1994.
33 years ago, John dedicated his life to Christ and has faithfully served Him. During this time, he served as a church council member and in the children's ministry. He was affectionately called "Papa John" and will always be remembered by that name.
John is lovingly survived by his wife, 5 children and their spouses: John and Anna Lund of Yuma, Kathy and Donald Scott of Yuma, Susan and Chuck Riggleman of Jacksonville, Florida, Scott and Alicia Lund of Phoenix and Aileen Lund of Yuma, as well as 7 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and mother in law, Eloise.

Well daddy, today would have been yours and mother's 59th wedding anniversary. I am so blessed that you two were able to celebrate together 58 yrs (33 of them with God as your foundation). What a beautiful testimony of a marriage that actually lasted. Love to you, my father, Aileen.

Happy Father's day!!! I still hold onto the card I gave you 2years ago that talked about what a good man you are. I am glad that I have that to keep, because when I want to think of you, all I have to do is read that card. I love you and am so eager to see you again - which will be soon, I'm sure. Love you lots, Aileen.

To my wonderful father: a week and half before you left us, you said you would never forget me, and I believe that to be true. Just to let you know, I will never forget you either. I miss you so much, but, I would never want to take you from being in your glory and being w/ Jesus. I love you eternally. Your baby girl.

Clara,
I am truly sorry to read about your John. He was always very happy and smiling when he would come to our building at work. I hope you remember me when we worked together back in the early 80's, late 70's. My prayers are with you and your family. May God give you strength and consolation.

John was our brother and one of our most dearest friends. Our times of fellowship together were some of the most meaningful times we ever had. Rosie and I still laugh today when we think of his humor and wit! John is unique! We miss him and look forward to seeing him again in Heaven.

I will forever be in debt to John and Clara for their friendship and care for getting me through one of the hardest times of my life. I so appreciated the time they devoted to listening and encouraging me in the Lord. Clara you truly had the best man and brother in the Church. He will always be a pillar and an example for me to emulate throughout my life. Thank you for your devotion to one another throughout the years. Frances often talks of how influential Papa John was with all of our children. His smile is contagious, it was as if he was giving it away to all who needed cheering up. Our thoughts go out to all the family.

When I think back to my childhood, some of my favorite memories reside in Children's Church. Papa John was such a big part of those memories and always had a warm smile and uplifting words for me. He was such a great man and he will greatly missed.

We will forever remember you Papa John. The unforgettable smile, the hearty handshake, the love he showed all of our children. What a true man of God who showed the love of Christ in everything he did. For all the wonderful memories you gave. We honor you. Love Tracey and Chuck Baumgarner

As the years pass memories are created and stored for reflection. The special moments for me and my family were when John would pass out his dum dum lollipops to my children who are now grown up. As John did this you could tell that the reason was to elicit smiles from the children. He would light up as with all children you would have to say "what do you say"? And when the children would say thank you, what a joy that brought to John and us the parents. Thanks John for who you were and your friendship for so many years. Love you always, the Ramos family. Angel, Idalia, Jesus & Jozette, Felipe & Cindy, and Natalia. We will never forget you!
