Myrna Stanz Obituary

Myrna L. Stanz

January 4, 1937 - March 21, 2025

Myrna L. Stanz died March 21, 2025. She was born January 4, 1937 at home in North Gila Valley, Yuma, AZ. It has always been said that it snowed in the valley that day.

Myrna graduated from Yuma Union High School in 1955 and went to work the next week at the Yuma Test Station as a secretary. In 1971 she started working for Gray & Terkelsen, P.L.L.C. and was with them for over 45 years.

She was a long time member and deaconess at First Baptist Church and attended Faith Baptist Church.

She liked helping people and one of her favorite quotes was: "Do all the good you can, In all the ways you can, For all the people you can, While you can".

Over the years she volunteered at several organizations, often two or three at the same time, including Easter Seals, United Way, Volunteer Bureau of Yuma, American Cancer Society, Arizona Children Association, WACOG, Ombudsman, Arizona Historical Society, The American Legion, Yuma Territorial Prison, CASA and lately for Hospice of Yuma, Inc. She was designated the "THE FEARLESS LEADER" of the local Silver Sneakers Exercise Group.

Myrna was preceded in death by her parents, M. L. (Joe) and Bertha M. Smith; brother, Joe E. (Gene) Smith; sisters, Nina R. Forrest, Elsie Vivian Fike and son, David R. Stanz.

Her son, Michael A. Stanz; grandsons, Paul K. and Nathan (Richelle) Stanz, and great granddaughter Kole Stanz survive her.

At her request there will be private cremation and no further services.
