Sheri Cole Obituary

Sheri Cole

April 5, 1949 - September 19, 2025

Sheri Cole, a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, passed away September 19, 2025. She was born in Detroit, Michigan on April 5, 1949, and lived a life rich in

compassion, dedication, and remarkable achievements.

Her career was as diverse as it was impactful. Sheri's unwavering commitment to

service began with her time as a Harvy Girl, working in Death Valley and The Grand Canyon, where she developed a deep appreciation for nature. Throughout her younger life Sheri was also a volunteer candy stripper and volunteer firefighter. After her daughters were born Sheri wanted to provide a better life for herself and her girls and decided to attend college. While studying at Northern Arizona University full time, she worked three jobs and raised her girls. Although her time was spread thin, her most cherished and favorite role was always being a mother to her girls. Sheri continued her education, eventually earning three masters degrees. Sheri spent the latter part of her

career at Arizona Western College as a professor of world history, with a special focus on British studies, sharing her vast knowledge and love of history with generations of students.

Sheri was known for her warm spirit, her storytelling, and her extraordinary knowledge of history. She was a passionate reader and a tireless learner, always seeking new ways to understand the world and share her insights. She was also deeply compassionate, offering comfort to anyone who needed it, particularly those in difficult situations. Her home was always open to family and friends, offering a place to stay and a listening ear.

A woman of immense strength, Sheri showed resilience beyond measure in the face of heartbreak, especially following the loss of her daughter Shelly to lupus at the age of 21. Despite this unimaginable tragedy, Sheri's spirit remained unbroken, and her love for life, for dance, and for her family continued to shine through.

Sheri's love of travel and her appreciation for the Earths natural beauty took her to many corners of the world, often accompanied by close friends who will miss her zest for adventure and the joy she found in every new experience. While Sheri's travels may have taken her far, her heart remained deeply connected to those she loved.

Sheri leaves behind a legacy of generosity, wisdom, and love. She will be deeply missed by her daughter, Jodi (Todd) Pinnt; her sister, Jackie (Tom)Keeton; her

granddaughter, Channing Pinnt; and by the many friends and family members whose lives she touched.

A heartfelt thank you to Yuma Senior Living for providing her with a loving, compassionate and safe environment during her final days. We appreciate everything you do more than words can express.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to Lupus Research Alliance, an organization close to Sheri's heart.

I was lucky to cross paths with Sheri at AWC. What a professional treasure. She walked the campus in an unassuming fashion. I loved it when she walked through the administration offices. Sheri was the real deal. When asked if she wanted to meet with the president, her response was always the same. "Nope. Just checking on things". Meeting her at The Garden Cafe was enlightening. With her vast knowledge and superior intellect I was honored when she paid attention to little old me. I am sorry for family and friends.
