I first met Tom when I lived across the street and he use to Yelp at me when I was reading a book to get my attention...too funny now to recall his persistence. One day one of his friend came over and invited me to a cook out where family and friends were enjoying laughter, music and jokes...after saying no to a beer He handed it back to me and said " here you do ". ... Just act like your drinking it."" He knew I was new in the community and was trying to make me feel like I had been there for years. Soon after he was greeting me at my fence after work and asking if I needed anything. Two years later when his doctor called me to help heal his foot and leg as a private nurse, I was immediately there for him. I would not accept and payment for my services ( he would slip checks into my bag and he was so mad at me for Never cashing them ) and Tom would not have it so he left a bag of veggies and fruit at my gate every week until my services were no longer needed. That was Tom, thoughtful. He always helped people in the community that were in need. He had a very big heart. Bigger then he could carry! He always called his daughter and spoke kindly. He would tell me she is the light of my life. He told me one day while I took care of him, he wanted to renewed the interior of his Yuma home for his daughter knowing one day it would be hers to enjoy. He was always thinking of her welfare and stating how proud he was of her. Tom always honored his mother and gave free rent space to a friend that helped his mother while she was alive. Tom was always giving fruit away from his trees and helping total strangers with rides to where they needed to go. Tom frequently had coffee with his neighbors and enjoyed joking around with them. There was many a Winter night howling at that Yuma moon singing Old East Coast Songs with him. Tom you will be missed by family, friends and strangers alike for your kind heart, good humor, your moods, good crys together when his dog passed away and your simple call It as It is thoughts....he could be mad at ya but in minutes be laughing with you....the Sun was always shining around Tom he wouldn't have it any other way!

He was a good man, with a big heart and he was a dear friend. He will be greatly missed and not forgotten. I'll see you when we all get to Heaven, and what a day of rejoicing that will be.
