William Curtis Obituary

William Arthur Curtis

December 10th, 1955 - July 4th, 2023

William (Billy) Arthur Curtis, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on July 4th, 2023, in Austin, Texas. He was born on December 10th, 1955, in Yuma, to Glen G. and Elena Orendain Curtis.

Billy grew up in Yuma, graduated from Kofa High School in 1974 and served in the US Army. Afterward he came home to work with his family's development and citrus business, Glen Curtis, Inc., until moving to Austin, TX.

Billy and his large personality will leave a void in the hearts of all who loved him. His fondness for people was unmistakable, and it seemed that everyone who crossed paths with him had a unique "Billy Story" to share. Whether through his personality, humor, or memorable encounters, Billy left an indelible mark on everyone he met. When reminiscing about their personal "Billy Story," one couldn't help but shake their head in amusement, only to find themselves wearing a heartfelt smile. He was undeniably a one-of-a-kind individual who brought laughter wherever he went.

Billy's happy place was behind the wheel and his claim to fame was that he could drive anything with a steering wheel. Whether it was a tractor on the farm, a bob cat on a construction site, a pickup truck on an old dirt road, an 18-wheeler on I-10, a dune buggy in the Baja 1000, a speed boat on the Colorado River or a sailboat on Mission Bay, he could handle them all and have a grin from ear to ear. May the open road to Heaven be paved with our love.

Billy leaves behind his devoted and loving wife of 44 years, Mileah, who stood by his side through life's ups and downs, sharing in both moments of laughter and tears.

As a father, Billy was a source of encouragement. His daughter, Cortney, and son, Chad, held a special place in his heart. He took great pride in their accomplishments and was their biggest fan. Billy's

son-in-law, Max, and daughter-in-law, Jessica, were considered part of his own family. Billy's greatest delight came from his role as a grandfather. He adored his grandchildren, Zander, Zia, Cora, and Bode, and they held a cherished place in his heart.

He is also survived by four brothers, Michael (Toni), Glen (Rebecca), Robert (Sandy), and John Curtis; and seven sisters, Elena Curtis, Cecilia Perry, Patricia (Jerry) Miller, Sandra (Michael) Morse, Glenda (Leonard) Sanchez, Laura (Bobby) Lyman and Joanne (Chris) Cleary.

While Billy's departure leaves a void, his memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew him. In this time of mourning, let us celebrate Billy's life and the joy he brought to our lives. May his soul find eternal peace, and may his family and friends find solace in the memories they shared together.

Services will be held at the St. John Neumann Catholic Church, Yuma Arizona, on July 21, 2023 at 10:00 am.

I´m late finding out here. But I´m Texas boy that came w Sam in the summer of `73. I caught up w Billy every 10 years or so and he´d instantly recall his getting stuck in sand in the orchard and our trek barefoot to the highway w one T shirt between us. 2 weeks at the Cat on the beach I got to slightly know all you brothers and sisters. I´m saddened. Doobie Brothers and SteelyDan as loud as car would go. God Bless. Mark Scott

Billy would show up in my driveway unannounced with a different vehicle each time. I remember an old jeep, a early 50's chevy truck, and a sportscar. Each time off we went. I had car trouble once, in the middle of summer, I called Billy for help and he dropped what ever he was doing and came to help. I just talk to him a couple of months ago to check in and see how he was doing. I wish I had done that more. He will be missed by so many. The memories he gave me I'll always have. Good friends are hard to find, and he was a good friend. He wasn't too manly to say he loved you. Billy, I love you brother, be with God, and family.
