Gary Adams Obituary

Gary G. Adams

ZANESVILLE: Gary Glenn Adams, 77, of Zanesville passed away peacefully on November 9, 2017 while under the care of Genesis Hospice at the Morrison House.

Gary was born in Zanesville on September 26, 1940. He is the son of the late Flora and Thomas Adams. Gary began his employment at the age of 16. His talent as a mechanic earned him the opportunity to own and operate his own service stations, the latest being Gary's Marathon for over 45 years.

Gary was an avid sports enthusiast. He focused on baseball where he managed the Senior Pioneers and was inducted into the Muskingum Valley Old Timers Baseball Association Hall of Fame. Gary later served as President of the M.V.O.T.A. Gary also enjoyed tennis where he successfully competed in many tournaments playing until he was 75 years young.

At home and his place of business Gary enjoyed building, landscaping and completing projects. He was always enthusiastic about his next endeavor.

Gary is survived by his wife Marilyn (Addy) Adams of 26 years; his son Greg (Regina) Adams of Zanesville; a daughter Lorie Flowers (Craig) of Zanesville; his daughter-in-law Beth Adams of Zanesville; his step-daughter and step-son Julee Addy and Donnie Poole, nine grandchildren, many great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and his special k-9 companion Tucker.

In addition to his parents, Gary is preceded in death by his son Michael G. Adams; his sisters, Bernice Wilcox, Erma Paul and his brothers, Harrison, Dallas and Gale Adams

Friends and family are welcome to attend calling hours for Gary from 11 to 2 pm, Monday, November 13, 2017 at the Westwood Baptist Church, 2395 East Pike, Zanesville, OH. Funeral Services will be held at the church at 2 pm with Pastor Mark Ballmer officiating. He will be laid to rest in Memorial Park Cemetery.

A friend and tennis buddy for 30 years. Saw him frequently on the tennis courts and at his Marathon station. We had a friendly relationship and shared many humorous stories together over these past many years. We discussed declining health and he was very stoic about the end of life. He will be missed by me and the many 'buddies' he developed through his involvement in sports.

I remember well his Gulf station at the bottom of the hill. But my favorite memory was playing tennis with and against Gary, where he played hard on every point. He loved the game! Prayers for his wonderful family.

To the Adams family, God bless and may God wrap His arms around you all and help ease rhe pain at this time of sorrow. I knew Gary many, many years ago when Gary and my father (Pete Close) played for the senior pioneers. My dad always liked Gary very much and always had great things to say about him. They also played softball in Duncan Falls. I remember Gary because he was always very nice to me. He was not awhole lot older than me. May the Lord be with you and help you in this time of need.
