WINCHESTER, VA: Gloria Stinson Craig, 92, passed away Saturday, February 23 in Winchester, Virginia. She was born November 25, 1920 in Durant, Oklahoma to Samuel David Stinson and Maude Sterling Stinson. She married Franklin Craig, Jr. on October 25, 1941.

She is survived by her brother Donald Stinson of San Antonio TX; by her daughter Donna Craig of Stephens City VA; by her sons and daughters-in-law Richard and Susie Craig of Sammamish WA, Ron and Debi Craig of Harvest AL, David and Kelli Craig of Brooklyn NY; by her grandchildren Tad and Alea Barker of Crooksville OH, Tricia and Chad Lesman of Stephens City VA, Erika and Matt Wanchick of Falls Church VA, Emily and Terry Hardbarger of Elizabeth WV; and by her great-grandchildren Madison and Claire Lesman, Greta Barker, Isabella and Olivia Wanchick, and Lakin Hardbarger.

In addition to her parents, Gloria was preceded in death by her husband Frank in 1995, her brother John Stinson, and great-granddaughter Chloe Kylene Barker.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Amarillo TX, the First Baptist Church in Zanesville OH, where she was Choir Director and vocal soloist for many years. She was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Parkersburg WV, where she sang in the choir and was Chairman and Cochairman of the Bonnie White Circle for several years.

In Gloria's fifth year her family moved to Amarillo Texas where her father started a small business selling homemade ice cream. Gloria sold the very first ice cream cone in 1930. Over the years the Double Dip grew to become a busy restaurant popular throughout the Texas Panhandle. After graduating Amarillo HS, Gloria studied music at Lindenwood College in St. Charles MO. She married Frank on October 25, 1941 in Amarillo after a romantic courtship during his pilot training in the US Army Air Corps. Gloria and Lt. Col. Frank Craig raised their children in the Texas Panhandle and in Zanesville, Ohio. Gloria taught music in the West Muskingum School District. She provided the care required by her mother for thirteen years, until Maude's passing in 1983.

Frank and Gloria lived in the Zanesville OH area until they moved to Belpre OH. After Frank passed, Gloria lived in the Glenwood Retirement Community in Marietta OH. In 2008 she relocated to Winchester, VA.

Gloria was a loving wife and mother, an expert cook, and she enjoyed canning, sewing and music. She was a fifty-year breast cancer survivor. She leaves a rich and musical legacy of love for her family and friends.

Memorial service will be at the Emmanuel Baptist Church on Saturday March 23rd at 2:30 PM.
