James "Buck" W. Lewis

ZANESVILLE: James "Buck" W. Lewis, age 83 of Zanesville, died 5:30 AM, Friday, April 7, 2017, at his home following a long illness.

He was born Monday, July 24, 1933, in Chester Hill,the son of James Victor Lewis and Delcie Mae (Kennedy) Lewis. He was married on Friday, December 5, 1997 to Lenora (Harris) Lewis who survives.

He was a Christian by faith and served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the Zanesville Clint Kramer Chapter #12 DAV and American Legion Post #29. Mr. Lewis retired from Watiker and Sons Construction.

In addition to his wife he is survived by four daughters, Millicent Lewis of Raleigh, NC, Dr. Marcia L. Lewis of Zanesville, Cynthia (Tony) Lewis Watson of Raleigh, NC, and Stacie (Timothy) Williamson of Pataskala; four step children, Donna Harris of Canton, Mary Harvey of Zanesville, Shannon Hill of Zanesville and Ricky Marshall; ten grandchildren, Heather, Justin, Mario, Jessica, Heather, Jasmine, Kennedy, Jaylan, Thomas, and Vontisa; eight great grandchildren; two sisters, Esther Mae Green and Elizabeth "Libby" Curtis both of Zanesville; several nieces and nephews and his canine companion Prince.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one son, James Craig Lewis; one sister, Eva Dickinson and one brother, Clyde Victor Lewis.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 PM & 6 to 8 PM on Tuesday, April 11, 2017, at the Hillis, Combs & Nestor Funeral Home, 935 Forest Avenue, Zanesville. Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 12, 2017 from 10-11 AM at the Greater Apostolic Church of Christ, 1651 State Street, Zanesville where a funeral service will be held at 11 AM with Elder Terrence E. Brown officiating. Burial will conclude in the Woodlawn Cemetery Veterans Gardens where the US Army, VFW Post #1058 and American Legion Post #29 will conduct full military honors.
