Richard F. McCarty

NASHPORT: Richard F. McCarty, 87 of Nashport, died 7:12 AM Sunday, July 14, 2013 at Genesis Good Samaritan, Zanesville. He was born Monday, November 2, 1925 in Zanesville the son of the late Roy McCarty and Mildred (Gilley) McCarty. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church at Mattingly Settlement. He was a dairy farmer, a member of the Farm Bureau and a graduate of the Northwestern School of Taxidermy.

He was survived by four sons, Roy P. (Pam) McCarty of Dresden, Raymond D. McCarty of Nashport, Ralph McCarty (fiancée Carla Cundiff) of Trinway, Robert (Beth) McCarty of St. Louisville; four daughters, Fran (Robert) Snider of Hopewell, Susan (Jerry) Allison of Norwich, Ginny (Chuck) Carter of Nashport, Maureen (Brian) Musto of Blacklick; one daughter-in-law Darla McCarty of Nashport; four step-children, Carl (Linda) Vernon of Adamsville, James (Linda) Vernon of Adamsville, Garry (Kelly) Vernon of Adamsville and Rebecca (Larry) Williams of New Concord; 20 grandchildren, 12 step-grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, 18 step- great- grandchildren; brother, David McCarty of Nashport and special caregiver, Kathy Patch.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Rita (Soller) McCarty March 29, 1991 and second wife, Geneva (Vernon) McCarty November 3, 2009; son Mike McCarty January 3, 2008; infant sister, two step-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.

Friends may call Tuesday, July 16, 2013 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Hillis, Combs & Nestor Funeral Home 935 Forest Ave. Zanesville, where a Christian Vigil will be held at 7:30PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 AM Wednesday, July 17, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Mattingly Settlement with a Dominican Father as celebrant. Burial will conclude in the Mattingly Settlement Cemetery, Nashport. Memorial contributions may be made to Genesis Morrison House Hospice, 713 Forest Avenue, Zanesville, in Mr. McCarty's memory.
