Robert Weidig Obituary

Robert T. (Tom) Weidig

SOUTHWICK, ID: Tom Weidig passed away peacefully and went to be with the Lord October 29, 2011 of cardiovascular disease. Tom was born January 10, 1931 to Ruby and Robert Weidig in Zanesville, Ohio and has two sisters whom survive him in Florida.

Tom grew up in Zanesville, Ohio and had many childhood memories he shared with his family. Tom had four children, Robert, Randy, Rod and a daughter Roxie all of whom he spoke well; of residing in Zanesville.

On July 27, 1994 in Idaho, he married Jeanette Lettenmaier and they share 17 wonderful blessed years together. Jeanette looked at him and told him they were best friends and may as well get married. Age was no matter they had a friendship that carried on throughout their marriage and he was a step dad to her son, Steven Willoughby, and Steven loved having two wonderful dads and will miss Tom greatly. Jeanette survives him at the family home in Southwick.

Tom was a lifetime auto body and paint man. He also loved to travel and has been to every state except he hadn't made it to Alaska or Hawaii. He owned candy businesses in two different states at periods in his life and loved making chocolates and peanut brittle. He was still making peanut brittle for those who loved his candy until his last day. He was an inventor and has had over 50 of his inventions copyrighted. He would take a couple of coat hangers and tap them on whatever was around him to music or would just make up music. He had a very humorous character and would like to tease those around him and would bring smiles to their faces. Tom loved to feed all the birds around his home and he truly loved the beauty of the eagle.

He loved to take trips out into the country to go fishing and just recently took up an interest in mining. He would talk about how much gold was worth and just knew he would find it up in those mountains. May the gold surround him now in heaven.

Tom was always a caring and giving person. He became a child of God and he did not reject Jesus Christ as his personal savior and Lord. He knew Jesus had forgiven him and was praying and trusting that he would be forgiven by those on earth.

Tom is survived by his wife, Jeanette, at their home in Southwick; his children, son, Robert T. Weidig, son, Randy T. Weidig & wife, Terry Weidig, son, Rod L. Weidig, daughter, Roxie Weidig Barnes & husband, John Barnes; grandchildren, Rusty Weidig, Renae Weidig Norton, Amy Thomas, Robbie Weidig, Jennifer Weidig York, Mandy Weidig O' Neal, Reisce Barnes, Raven Barnes, Racheal Barnes, Rhett Barnes; great grandchildren, Courtney Matthews, Camron Weidig, Andrew Weidig, Chayton Weidig, Aidan Norton, Miranda Thomas, Kamber Smith, Jenna York, Jacey York; his mother and father-in-law, Fred and Betty Lettenmaier; sister and brother in-law, Gordon and Darline Heath; nieces and nephews, Nicole Gilbert, Andreya Nelson, Slade and Justis Nelson. He will be missed by these members. His nieces and nephews will miss him and they will miss what they called at times in good humor "a grumpy old man," They'd come to accept him because they knew he loved and cared about them. He was always straight up and to the point and his honesty was respected.

Services will be held at the Southwick Community Bible Church at 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 4, 2011. Burial will follow at the Southwick Cemetery and a covered dish dinner will follow at the Southwick Community Church. Those who would like directions or an address can call 208-289-2477.
