As Gregg's younger sister, I have many happy memories with you in high school: Iron Maiden, Doyle Fourth of July bashes, Brophy Graduation, etc. But alas, I am now a wife and mother and losing track of those simpler times...but hearing of your death reminds to celebrate those memories again and leave you with an Irish proverb:

Always remember to forget the things that made you sad.
But never forget to remember the things that made you glad.

I am glad to have known you and your zany sense of humor. May your family find comfort in the thought that you touched and remain in the hearts of many.

My condolences go out to everyone who knew Mark, especially his family.

Mark was the first person I met entering high school, an extremely intelligent salty-tongued character who helped introduce me to sarcasm and loud music. We had a lot of fun together back then and didn't understand for years how much we really had in common beneath the more superficial things we found amusing about each other. In the years after school, he'd drift in and out of contact, but I always knew he'd get back in touch with me, since he was filled with the desire to express his strong, unpolished affection for his friends. He was a kind of conscience for me at times, an oxymoronically cynical idealist who often reminded me of how we once thought things would be when we grew up, and where we'd failed to measure up and what we could still do in the future.

I'm surprised to realize that Mark was my friend for over twenty-five years. My life was richer for having known him all that time, and I'm tremendously sorry he's gone. I'll miss him terribly.

Mark, I cannot believe you are gone. You were such an amazing person--smart, funny, kind-hearted. I am honored to be one of the few who was able to appreciate your gifts over such a long time. You will never be forgotten, my friend...I miss you already. Fuzzy, Whitesnake, Mr.Poi--rock on forever.
