To Jim's family and friends.
Jim was my student at SUC Oneonta more than 20 years ago, but his good humor, kind nature and keen intellect distinguished him from his peers. He clearly did the same as a professional, friend, and father. The sorrow I feel at his passing is tempered only by the priviledge and honor I feel for having known him as a friend. My sincerest sympathies.

The Ellegate's, Julie & Kids:
Hard to admit I first met Jim nearly 25 years ago, but first impressions last a lifetime and Jim's is certainly without comparison. Many have already expressed the compassion and even keel that carried him forward with seemingly little effort. As a result it is the monster wake of positive energy and good will that will be an everlasting influence and tragic loss. My deepest sympathy to the whole family and gratitude for the wonderful times I enjoyed with you and Jim.

When I think of Jim, I go back to those early mornings in Jr. High and Sr. High walking to school with the Allens, Royce Johnson and others. Some days that was the best time of the school day.
I remember fun times in the library and at school. I also enjoyed meeting up with Jim after spring track practice and getting a ride home through upper Wilber Park on his snowmobile.
Of all the memories of Jim that I have the one I love the most was at our 20th High School Reunion. We were able renew our friendship. I was able see his concern for friends that were not there. Most of all I was able to what a wonderful father he was. The world is need of good fathers and now we are one short.
My deepest sympathies go out to all that knew him. May we always remember what a good man he was and find peace in our hearts.
My love and prayers go out to his family.

Dear Ellegate family,
My sincerest condolences on your loss. Jim was a classmate and, more recently, a friend as we communicated via e-mail. We're never prepared for such losses, but it's even more difficult to lose someone so young and so suddenly, especially someone as wonderful as Jimmy. Know that there are many out here who will miss him and who keep all of you in our thoughts and prayers. May the love and support of family and friends help you through this most difficult time. May Jim's memory and love for you sustain you.
With sympathy, Denise Corna

Grace and beloved family of Jim:
I met you both over 20 years ago and will never forget the impact Jim had on my life, my family and my friends. He was the driving force of encouragement behind me during those difficult college years when I just wanted to give up. Although we broke contact many years ago, I credit Jim with the success I have met. He is one of few truly caring and compassionate men. Peace be with all of you at this difficult time.

Jim was a very honorable man, he was certainly the last people who deserved a fate such as this. I only knew Jim for about 4 years I wish I had been fortunate enough to know him longer. I looked highley upon him and respected the way he lived his life, he worked hard but never forgot his family and friends. He was one of the greatest people that I have ever met and blessed are all of us who got to know him and be a part of his life. My prayers and sympathy reach out to those who morn and considerably to his wonderful wife and precious children

I worked with Jim at the Animal Shelter and I don't think that I have ever had the pleasure of meeting a more wonderful person; he so loved those animals and they in return loved him. The family, friends and PAWS Shelter have lost a great person, he will be missed by all. He did so much for the shelter, he was patient with the animals and worked with them because that brought him joy. We are all very sad and know that there is no way we will ever be able to replace him. God must have needed him more than we did; my thoughts and prayers are with the family. I feel very lucky to have known him, I am a better person for the experience.

We feel very lucky to have met Jim and to have called him friend for the past 3 years. The good times our 2 families have shared are happy memories we will cherish. We mourn with you the loss of a husband, father, son, and brother but perhaps, more profoundly, “just” a very good man. The world lost a very special person in Jim and our prayers and thoughts are with you and the kids.

Jim used to volunteer at PAWS Animal Shelter. He and his children would spend countless hours taking the orphan dogs out for a run. We loved to see Jim come to the shelter! He was fun, had charm and wit. He was also one of the smartest business men we knew. We are going to miss him!! We hope that Julianna and children will still be able to come visit at the shelter from time to time! You are in our hearts!
