Alena Brown Obituary

Alena Brown Battle Creek Alena "Brownie" Brown, of Battle Creek, passed away Friday, December 12, 2008 at Battle Creek Health System surrounded by her family. She was born on December 14, 1923 in Jasper, TN to Reps and Emma (Goings) Brown. She married Carl H. Brown on September 20, 1941. Alena was employed at the Kellogg Company for 32 years, retiring in 1985. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, the Kellogg 25-Year Club, and formerly active in the Kellogg bowling and golf leagues. She was an avid Detroit Tigers fan and wintered in Lakeland, FL to watch the Tigers spring training games there. Alena was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1987, and her sisters, Katie Underwood, Ines Miles, and Bertie Webb. Surviving are a daughter, Carla (Gil) Gillette; a son, Rick (Kay) Brown; granddaughter, Cathy (Mark) Kreter; grandsons, Mark Crail, Jeff Brown, Justin Brown; and a great-granddaughter, Taylor Brown. Services will be held 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 17th at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Robert L. Zuhl officiating. Interment will follow at Floral Lawn memorial gardens. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, December 16th. Memorial contributions may be given to charity of one's choice.
