Milburn Elmendorf Obituary

Milburn C. Elmendorf Springfield, MO Milburn C. Elmendorf, 96, passed away on Monday, September 21, 2009 at his home in Maranatha Village, Springfield, MO. Milburn was born in Barry County, Michigan, the fourth of seven children of Charles and Alice Garms Elmendorf. He was the last surviving member of his family. He is survived by his wife of thirty-seven years, Isabella A. Elmendorf. Milburn had a long and distinguished career as an Assembly of God Home Missionary in Kentucky during the 1940's. He also was heavily involved in the establishment of the Penial Institute in Kentucky. He served as Professor of Economics at Evangel University in Springfield from 1960 to his retirement in 1975. Early in his life, Milburn understood the value of education. He earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Western Michigan University, a Master of Arts, Economics Degree from the University of Missouri, a Masters of Arts Degree from Michigan State University, and a Diploma of Graduation from Central Bible Institue. Milburn loved all sports and continued to play golf regularly into his nineties. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Milburn C. Elmendorf Honored Business Faculty Scholarship Fund at Evangel University A graveside service will be conducted by Walnut Lawn Funeral Home on September 24th at 11:00 a.m. at White Chapel Cemetery in Springfield.
