Verna Gutzman Obituary

Verna M. Gutzman Battle Creek Verna M. Gutzman, age 80, formerly of Battle Creek, died December 26, 2009. Verna was born January 28, 1929 in Battle Creek. She loved taking care of her family, cooking, crafts, sewing and crocheting. Verna is survived by her children: Paul (Julie) Gutzman of Battle Creek, Becky (Gene) Dubose of Richland, MO, Barbara Pierce of Richland, MO, and James (Paula) Gutzman of Battle Creek; 9 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband: James Gutzman II on April 9, 1993; 1 brother; and 1 sister. Visitation will be on Wednesday, December 30, 2009 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of her funeral service at 1:00 p.m. at the Royal Funeral Home, Battle Creek. Burial will be in Ft. Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, MI.

Verna, I cherish the times we spent together snowmobiling with Jim, Jay, Ruth & Lee, our quilting classes and our crocheting marathons. The frequent trips to the bonton shop was a treasure in its self. I hope that you are at peace and experiencing a reunion with Jim, Jay, Ruth & your little sister, Barbara.
