Donald Baklund Obituary

Donald M. Baklund Marshall Donald M. Baklund, passed away peacefully at Oaklawn Hospital in Marshall. He was born on June 30, 1922 in Marshall, Michigan to John and Rena (Page) Baklund. Don started working for Eaton Manufacturing and left in 1943 to serve our Country in the United States Marine Corp. On March 2, 1948 he married R. Jeanne Stappin in Grand Rapids, Michigan and she survives. After serving his term in the Military, he returned to Eaton and retired after 43 years of service. He enjoyed farming for most of his life and working at Eaton's. He was involved in various travel trailer clubs and after retiring, Don and Jeanne spent their winters in Florida and enjoyed participating in various activities throughout the community. He was a member of the VFW and enjoyed the Detroit Tigers and watching sports and game shows on TV. He also enjoyed Square Dancing. Survivors include his wife, R. Jeanne, two daughters, Joyce M. Braden (Daniel), and Donna J. Kiser (Jack) one son, John T. Baklund (Claudine), 7 grandchildren: David ("Duffy") R. Quartermaine, Brooke D. Quartermaine, Courtney A. Bloom (Ryan), Ashleigh Q. Maddox (Jesse), Timothy J. Baklund (Kayla), Mark A. Baklund (Alison) and Allison R. Braden, 3 step grandchildren: Michelle C. Carpenter (Chip), Jennifer A. Arnold (Chuck) and Dawn M. Weaver (JJ); 10 great-grandchildren and 5 step great-grandchildren, brother Kenneth Baklund, several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, John A. Baklund, his mother, Rena A. Page, and his brothers, John A. Baklund, Jr. and Carroll Baklund. A memorial service will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 16, 2010, at J. Kevin Tidd Funeral Home, 811 Finley Drive, Albion, with Rev. Steve Van Slyke officiating. Visitation will be held from Noon until time of service at the funeral home. Interment will be at Rice Creek Cemetery at a later date.
