Donald "Donnie" Lee Collier

Donald "Donnie" Lee Collier, 63, of Ruckersville, passed away Tuesday, September 15, 2009, at the University of Virginia Medical Center.

Donnie was born May 18, 1946, in Albemarle County, the son of the late Elie Collier and Edith Morris Collier.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Davis; and father-in-law, George "Buck" Morris.

Donnie is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Elizabeth Morris Collier; two daughters, Shelia Lamb and her companion, Keith Bourne, of Stanardsville, Sheri Davis and her husband, Jon, of Nashville, Tennessee; one son, Kevin Collier and his wife, Jenny of Nashville, Tennessee; two sisters, Reva Davis and Connie Jones, both of Earlysville; six grandchildren, Timmy Lamb and his wife, Lovely, of Charlottesville, Heather Lamb of Stanardsville, Elaine and Aiden Collier, and Clara and Cole Davis, all of Nashville, Tennessee.

He is also survived two nieces, Brenda Gentry and her husband, Farren, of Ruckersville, Amanda Barnett and her husband, Chris, of Earlysville; two nephews, Ronald Davis and his wife, Sherri, of Louisa and Nelson Davis and his wife, Ruth, of Earlysville; one brother-in-law, George Morris and his wife, Kathy, of Ruckersville; mother-in-law, Mary Morris, also of Ruckersville; and many other family members and friends.

The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 p.m. Thursday, September 17, 2009, at the Ryan Funeral Home, 12819 Spotswood Trail, Ruckersville, Virginia.

A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Friday, September 18, 2009, at the Ruckersville Baptist Church with the Reverend Kyle Clements officiating. Interment will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens.

Following the committal service, a fellowship meal will be held at Ruckersville Baptist Church.

Ryan Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
