Mellema, Jack R. P.
Greece: Went peacefully with his Maker, Saturday, July 5, 2008 at age 83. Survived by his loving wife of 54 1/2 years, Elaine Mellema; sons, Lloyd (Karen) Mellema, Donald Mellema (MaryJo Geist), William (Lucille) Mellema; daughter, Brenda (Jim) Pentycofe; brother, James (Chris) Mellema; sisters, Olive (Gordon) Simone, Linda (Greg) Lennon, Diane (Fred) Burtton; 12 grandchildren; 1 great-grandson. Jack was a retired 20- year veteran who served in World War II, the Battle of the Bulge and the Korean War. He was an avid director of many drum corps and color guards.
Family and Friends may call Tuesday 4-8 PM at the Vay-Schleich & Meeson Funeral Home 1075 Long Pond Road. His Graveside Service will be held Wednesday 10:00AM at Irondequoit Cemetery. Please meet at the gate of the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Durand United Church of Christ in his memory.
