Lori Ortiz (Emily's Cousin)

Emily was such a beautiful and sweet girl growing up. Anyone that knew her knew how much love and compassion she had for animals. She was my younger cousin that I used to babysit for and then all of a sudden, we were both pregnant! We were going to raise both of our girls together to be best friends.
First Emily babysat for Jenna and when that ended, we picked pumpkins together and went trick or treating together, or just had a play date together. Janey and Jenna loved being together and that will continue forever. I know that Emily is in a much better place now and is watching over all of us. I know that she is up in heaven with all the animals she has rescued and with my Hap and Poco. They loved her so much. Thank you to all of my friends and family that have supported me thru this difficult time. Thru Janey, we will all remember Emily and never forget that beautiful smile.

My heart is saddend by the loss of Emily, I always loved the times that i would bump into her. She always had this huge welcoming smile. Emily was one of the most sweetest and loving people that I have met in a long time. Im going to miss her smile and her great hugs!! Jane was her life. To see the look in her eyes when she looked at Jane was so true and loving. I know Emily is up there watching over her and always will.

I'll never forget you Em!!

My Sweet Emmy Rose,
It is impossible to express how much sadness I feel knowing that no matter what we did or how hard we tried, our marriage could not succeed. Love was just not enough. And although you and I had more than our share of really bad times, you gave me the happiest times of my life. You also gave me the most beautiful baby girl in the world. With every ounce of my being, I thank you. I know you will watch over Jane and me, and with your help, I will do whatever it takes to make you proud of both of us. I miss you with every breath I take, Em. I LOVE YOU ALWAYS AND FOREVER.

Thank you to all of you who have reached out to my Mom and I in our time of need. Knowing that we have such a great support system makes things that much easier to deal with. For those of you who weren't able to be at her remembrance, I'm posting the piece of mine that I wrote with Emmy's passing in mind and I hope you will read and remember these things as they are the reason I am the man that I am today.

You Can Change It

Everything in this world can be changed, if only by perspective. No one in this world can be changed by another person. We have to decide to change. We cannot change other people, but we can change ourselves. When your brain betrays you, it's still YOUR brain and YOU can change it. You will never get back the moments you've spent, and time is relentless. They say time flies when you're having fun and that's true. But time flies anyway. The moments we spend feeling bad seem to drag on, but they are just as short as every other moment that has passed. You are never certain, and feelings of certainty are wasted opportunities to learn. You are never done and nothing is ever the same as it was. Forever is a very, VERY long time. These are some of the things that my Mom has taught me. But I had to WANT to learn them.

In loving memory of my sister, Emily Rose

Emily was a wonderful person and wonderful mom. To see her with Jane was wonderful their faces just lit up when they were playing. I remember one of the last conversations I had with Emily she told me Jane found a bird in the back yard that was hurt and Emily called all over to find out were she could take the bird, she ended up driving all the way from Ontario to Churchville to rescue the bird and this she did for Jane. She was truly an amazing person.
My sympathy goes out to Joyce, Jackson and Jane, I love you all.
